Short-Term Stay After Hospital Admission
Patients that have been admitted to a hospital for a minimum of three nights may have the option for a short-term stay in our center to receive 24-hour Nursing care and Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy up to seven-days each week. Patients may also request a short-term Respite in-patient stay for periods of a few days to several months.

In-Patient Residential Stay
Patients that require a permanent in-patient stay may be admitted from the Hospital, Assisted Living Facility or Home after receiving an admission order from their primary physician.

Specialty Programs

[review] => The nurses (especially Tamika)are wonderful, the administrator Rod is a delight and the cleaning staff are wonderful but their social worker Ms.Lee is the rudest person I have ever encountered and thats saying alot given Ive worked people facing for the past 20yrs. Does not follow-up, when brought to her attention she is even more rude. She entered the patient's room without looking for updates beforehand and misinformed the patient in such a cold manner that it even made the patient cry. For people skills to be missing in a social worker is a truly scary thing. Especially given WHERE she works. Do better.

Do not send your loved ones here unless you want them to sit in their own urine and fences for hours without being taken care of, their cries for help to be ignored, and for them to miss their pain medications for 11 hrs after being due. This place is disgusting, they are understaffed and fully incapable of taking care of their patients needs. My family removed my father after only two days of being there and witnessing the horrific treatment of patients. This facility needs to be shut down. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.

The care and hygiene was very good also. Food choices were very good at food were was prepared very well I especially like the activities the bingo the free manicure was wonderful. I just hope I don’t have to return.

[review] => This place is absolutely garbage!! The nurse Tamika is the rudest person I've ever met!! It smells like urine in the hallway. They leave their patients in their room alone. Tamika and one other nurse were in the hallway cussing up a storm about one of their patients. The patient had to go to the bathroom so i went to get the nurse and she just looked at me...took about 5 minutes for someone to come in.. being that the patient has a UTI at 93 years old, when she has to go, she has to go. The front desk receptionist is also incredibly rude. And let me not forget to mention they told us our loved one had RSV which she in turn did not. My loved one also told me they forget to give them food sometimes...All she had yesterday was a biscuit! This place needs to get shut down. I feel bad for the patients there who cant talk and tell their loved ones what goes on.

[review] => My father came in for rehab after a hospital stay. He was very weak, but after a few days was working hard to get out of there and back home.
From the therapists (Ron, Doug, JC , Pascale and others) to the nursing staff (Chynna, Adrienne, Todd and others) CNAs, housekeeping, and laundry & maintenance (Felix) and Social Worker (Lee), and the Administrator (Rod) my dad got great care and encouragement. Not everything was perfect and of course everyone wants to go directly home after a hospital stay, but for me as a concerned daughter, I was always able to get answers to any questions that I had and any situation resolved and was always shown patience and kindness. I was up there almost daily so I feel like I have a good sense of the place. My father's only complaint was he didn't like the coffee (I'd call that a win!)
My father realized he had to put in the work to get out of there and therapists always allowed him to "do another set" when he asked, if it was safe. He was there longer than he wanted but I felt confident he was safe to go when discharged. He got right back into his routine at home quickly.
I would definitely recommend Tuskawilla Nursing and Rehab.

[review] => I don’t know where to start. This place was fantastic for my mother. There are so many people involved, but only a few that I can remember that really stuck in my mind. First was Chynna
who was Mom’s nurse and she was phenomenal. Doug, CJ and Jill in physical therapy were caring and understanding in helping my Mom recover from a hip fracture. I don’t think my mom would be where she is in her recovery without them. The staffs responsiveness is refreshing; whenever I had a question about my Moms care there’s always someone available to speak with you. I would highly recommend Tuskawilla Rehab.

[review] => I was a previous employee in which I had to leave for unfortunate circumstances. I enjoyed working here. The administrator Rod was one of the best administrators, he showed he cared about all the residents and staff. He was hands on all the way. The director of nursing Angela was wonderful, very caring and patient with me. The management team was very good and caring too. I also wanted to say thank you to all the nurses and CNAs who welcomed me and work very hard , keep up the wonderful care you give. The facility is very clean and welcoming. I wish everyone the best.

This facility is awful!!! If you want your loved one to sit there & rot just bring them here. No empathy for the patients. No communication with family members.. all the way from administration down to the cnas. If DAVID LPN is your loved ones nurse just know he will not care or show any compassion for the patient nor their family members. He has zero idea what is going on or bed side manners. If Lilium is the RN expect an attitude towards you & your loved one on a daily basis. Not a single person in this places cares about you, the patient or their job. I guess they are only there for the pay check. I will do everything in my power to make sure this place is closed & doesn’t hurt anymore patients again!!!!!

[review] => Very short staffed. Upper management would rather fill their pockets than offer a safe nurse patient ratio. One nurse will have up 25 skilled patients, you as the patient could be waiting hours for meds or even an entire shift before youre even changed or turned. Horrible team work. You will wait a looong time before someone answers your call light. Staff don't wear ppe even when patients have isolation signs on the doors. People quit here all the time. No consistency with staff. If you have a complaint be prepared because all upper nursing does is argue instead of resolve. Therapy is nice but the food is garbage as well. Do not recommend. Most of the 5 star reviews were employees forced to write a review. Eliminate those and you'll have the true 1 star rating this place deserves.

[review] => Definitely a place that you can find peace that your loved one is being cared for. They took amazing care of my dad and he was not an easy patient. They were caring, patient and encouraging to him and our family during a very difficult time in our lives. The facility is clean and my dad was very well cared for and always freshly showered. Administration is kind and very helpful, and also very patient. They took my dad to BINGO several times! Amazing social worker who genuinely cares about what is best for your loved ones and works long hours to ensure things are on point. Loved our Dr. also who gladly took the time to answer questions. Every single person at this facility takes the time to say hello regardless of where you pass them or if they are caring for my dad or not. Hoping there are no more accidents or hospital visits in the future for my dad, but if he ever needs rehab again, this is the only place we will go.

[review] => Tuscawilla Nursing and Rehab is a phenomenal faculty. It is very clean and has a home like atmosphere. I have had fantastic care during my stay here. Everyone is friendly and professional including the administration staff, nurses, aides, rehab, dietitian and food service.
Lacy Phillips, the Business Manager has worked very hard to assist me with insurance and future assisted living placement. She is always kind, courteous and explains the process in detail. She is very passionate about working with the elderly. I greatly appreciate all that she has been doing for me.
This facility has also worked diligently to safeguard us from the Covid19 virus. They truly care about their residents and treat us with respect.
I am grateful for the quality of care that I have received during my stay here.

[review] => I went to a interview with a Guy named Bryce King I got hired on the spot they gave me a tour of the building they also let me greet a resident . I just finished my CNA test so I was waiting for my name to clear on the Florida board of nursing website that’s why I couldn’t start right away Bryce told me once that cleared I was good to go Not a bad place at all Byrce is a very nice gentleman and he is very understanding and listens Also there executive director is a pretty nice guy . I never got to experience working there because i felt like I was discriminated by the color of my skin I got hired gave out all of my paper work social security number everything I was waiting 2 weeks to start work but no one ever called about a orientation date so I called Mary Ellen & she lied and said she called me & she told me that I said I didn’t want the position which was a lie cause I’ve been sitting by the phone waiting on her call (SHE NEVER CALLED )so I called her AGAIN & then she gave me the run around saying how state was there and that they weren’t doing orientation this week she said she would give me a call back in 1-2 days to let me know when to come in to start work remind you guys I called her Monday . so today (FRIDAY)I get a letter in the mail saying they have filled the position mind you guys I have already been hired so I go up there today and at first Mary Ellen she is the new HR coordinator filling in for Bryce she didn’t want to speak to me at all I had to lie and say it was a personal reason just to speak with her then when I got to speak with her she didn’t want to hear anything I had to say. it was a 4,000 sign on bonus involved and honestly I didn’t think she wanted me to get that and I don’t want to work there anymore but all I’m saying is never judge a person because they can be the best worker you’ve ever hired I’m reliable someone dependable have experience very patient and I LOVE THE WORK I do you’ll never find anyone perfect but I would say I’m close to it anyway if you want good workers whos dedicated you have to actually give them a chance to work ! And the reason some of these nursing homes are lacking staff is because the people that they hire have no compassion they are just there for a check I felt like she didn’t wanna hire me because of the color of my skin and that’s NOT OKAY ! I will be reporting her to OSHA MONDAY MORNING

[review] => A loved one was sent here after a partial foot amputation. He told us when he needed to use the bathroom, nobody would help. When they finally did respond, he was told to "GO IN THE DIAPER". This is not only unacceptable, but DISGUSTING!!! Don't check in on the weekend you won't get the services you need (meds, PT, or doctors not available on the weekend or after 6pm). It's a waiting game you play just to be evaluated by a Dr or PT. And pharmacy is too slow in sending your prescriptions since there is no pharmacy on the premises. I would rather go home than have to deal with incompetence... Just saying

[review] => Great Rehab Facility! I really loved how careful, and how hard they worked me. Pascale took such good care of me in therapy. The team of therapist are so dedicated. They include Gilda, Rosealyn, Charles, Brittany, and Jill. The entire staff is so compassionate. Another great aspect at Tuskawilla was the area of Activities. When I wanted to just read my books after PT Ms. Lizette Johnson and her team encouraged me to take part in a few things. I loved Tuesdays!. We were able to get a beautiful manicure along with meeting other residents. I played Bingo on Friday's, and all of these activities made my stay less regimented.

My mom was forgotten for breakfast several times which resulted in low blood sugar that could’ve caused her to go into the emergency room. [review] => Just had left hip replaced, and a pacemaker installed, don't ask for pain relief. There really isn't anything good to say. I think they only are allowed $3 a day to feed you. If Oviedo Med. Didn't force me into rehab, I'd probably been better off in my own bed. Day 7... been waiting over 2 hrs for morning meds. Can you believe they give a building of old people hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Day 8, it's surprising with a little complaining things can start changing. Food turns out OK.. Still a little slow with meds.. or getting doctors to understand what they are giving me only lasts if I'm lucky 2or 3 hrs. But the nurse staff do have their hands tied. Day9, terrible doctors here won't adjust pain meds.. new roommate who needs oxygen, you'd think it was a old tire pump at a gas station . Everything is old hand me drowns. 9:15 nurse was standing in front of room a while than walked off not giving me anything. I want to say nice things but people just won't let me.Day 12, I have to update my star rating. In all fairness this is a very good place, there are exceptions to everything, and I've let a couple of things cloud my judgement the theorphy staff are very tough but have to be. The nurses are ok I just need to be a little fairer about a few things.The CNAs are the true work horse's around here. Litchen staff, done nice job also. They did great for my likes

My mother was abused by staff, over medicated, had all of her medications changed, and was dumped at the ER and discharged against regulation. She is worse now than when she was admitted. Her clothes were taken, staff allowed her to remain in soiled clothes to the point she has a severe UTI. I witnessed other residents call buttons being ignored, and neglected . Staff do not follow through with what they say. The Management, DN, Social Workers are all clueless about how to care for people. This facility is a joke and will be reported to the Dept. Of Elder affairs. Do not send your loved one here.

[review] => My husband and I placed our loved one there based on reviews from the state inspections. She was transferred from another facility in Orlando to be close to us in Oviedo. It was apparent very early that the facility was understaffed with medical professionals. It was always difficult to find a nurse or a CNA to answer calls from our room. It was very insulting, concerning and infuriating to stand at the nurses station several minutes without a look up or a confirmation that you existed on each occasion we approached with a need or request. My husband and I both experienced this. In the evenings it was difficult to find a nurse or a CNA (and we visited every evening). The Transfer orders from the Previous facility were not correctly transcribed, so for several days she did not receive the medications she had prior to her transfer and no-one noticed. We were the ones who caught the errors. If you care about the CARE don't go THERE !

My stay at Tuskawilla was very good I especially was impressed with the teamwork of the therapy department they work flawlessly, switching us from machine to machine.
